Everything You Should Do Before Overwatch 2 Launches

Overwatch 2 is right around the corner, but there’s a bit of prep-work you should probably do to get ready for it.

For those looking to pre-download the game, if you play on console, you’ll be able to do so from 9 AM PT / 12 AM ET on October 4. Whereas if you’re on PC and own the Watchpoint Pack, you’ll be able to do so a bit earlier, with pre-download being available tomorrow (September 30) at 1:30 PM PT / 4:30 PM ET. If you have automatic downloads setup, it should just do so on its own.

You also might have heard that Overwatch 2 will require you to link a phone number to your Battle.net account, which is supposed to prevent bad actors using cheats and cycling through multiple additional accounts that share the same phone number. Now Blizzard has made it so that you can only have one number per account. So if you’re happy to do so, it’s advised you add that now so you’re ready to play on launch.

The Witcher Remake Will Be Fully Open World, Unlike The Original

The recently announced remake of The Witcher in Unreal Engine 5 will be fully open world, marking a major change from the original game.

Developer CD Projekt Red announced the news as part of its Q3 2022 earnings report, where it listed the title, codenamed Canis Majoris, as a “story-driven, single player open-world RPG–a modern reimagining of 2007’s The Witcher.” That the game will be open world wasn’t mentioned during its initial announcement in October.

Though the critically acclaimed The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is open world, the first two entries in The Witcher series are not. Instead, the first two games in the franchise featured large open zones players could explore. However, progressing the story past certain key points would move players to a new zone, closing off the previous area entirely. The earnings report doesn’t elaborate further on how the new open world approach may change other aspects of the game.

Black Friday may be over, but there’s still a chance to snag a deal on one of the best controllers on the market for Xbox and PC during Cyber Monday. The superb 8BitDo Ultimate is now going for just $36, a big discount from its usual $45 asking price. This is an Amazon Lightning Deal and is only available until the end of the Cyber Monday (or until it sells out).

What makes this controller so good is that it’s a multiplatform device that can work on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. It’s worth noting that the 8BitDo Ultimate is a wired controller for Xbox and PC, but it’s still easily one of the best Xbox controllers around. Only the black and Pastel Pink models are available for this price.

Besides being a comfortable fit for your hands with its shape and featuring quality components, the big deal here is the customization on offer. You can fine-tune your inputs, adjust your analog stick sensitivity, and much more using 8BitDo’s software, and the controller can store up to three profiles that you can switch between on the fly. If you want a setup that favors quick trigger pulls when you play Call of Duty, a profile that heightens analog stick sensitivity when you play Forza Horizon, and a custom arrangement for fighting games, you’ll be easily covered.
